Osteopathy takes a "whole-body" approach to tackling illness and treating injuries. Extending diagnosis and treatment beyond the local site of injury enables a swift return to health and activity.

A Typical Session

Before any treatment begins a full case history is taken, exploring medical history and previous illness and injuries. This will be followed by a physical examination of the affected area. At this stage you will be asked to remove outer clothing. If you are not comfortable undressing for treatment please wear "gym kit" to your session.

After the physical examination, a diagnosis will be reached and relevant treatment will follow. This can include hands-on manipulation as well as recommendations regarding exercise, posture and lifestyle.

In some circumstances a course of treatment will be recommended. In others a single session will be enough to put you on the road to recovery.

Sport and Exercise Services

Bodywork Osteopathy also offers specific analysis and treatment to help with exercise-related problems.

Sporting performance can be hindered due to musculoskeletal imbalances or over-training. We can help by addressing the imbalance and giving you a specific exercise programme to enhance your performance in your chosen sport or activity.

We also offer gait analysis to help identify any irregularities in lower limb biomechanics. Problems related to the foot and ankle can become apparent in the knee, hip and lower back as pain and muscular tightness. After identifying the problem, we can offer advice and train you in techniques to help you exercise more efficiently.
